Dallas police say a man previously charged for robbery and released on bond led officers in a pursuit and standoff after he was caught in another stolen vehicle.
Officers saw a car that had been registered as stolen outside a Westhollow area motel at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday. It was discovered that the car was stolen in an aggravated robbery in Houston Monday.
After officers approached the car, they found Courtney Johnson, 26, and Joshua Puckett, 26 inside the car. Once they saw the police, Puckett ran away from officers to car dealership next door where he stole a car at gunpoint.
The car was found abandoned nearby in the 2900 block of Silverton Drive. Subsequently, Puckett lead officers on a foot chase over fences and through backyards.
Puckett was found about two blocks later threatening himself with a gun. Ultimately, after a standoff with SWAT, Puckett surrendered peacefully, according to police.
The other suspect, Courtney Johnson, immediately surrendered and was later released. Puckett was charged with aggravated robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Investigators say Puckett was charged for jumping over a fence at the Dallas Police Auto Pound and stole a vehicle Nov. 12. Charged with two counts of felony theft and evading arrest, Puckett was released from jail on bond Nov. 30.
