New Northwest Dallas development means new money and new people moving in and proves that Westhollow is ripe for redevelopment and beautification.

The office park next door to Mobil on Forest Lane near Forest and Marsh will soon be redeveloped by United Development whom acquired the three-building Park Forest office complex at 3530 Forest Lane, south of LBJ Freeway.

The $10 million redevelopment will include demolition of the two smallest buildings and construction of a self-storage facility in its place and a three-story office building will be used to consolidate businesses in the development. The new Self Storage facility will have 60,000 square feet of space and will open in about a year from now.

The original structures were built starting in 1969, and has 90,000 square feet of buildings on 4 acres.

Demolition of the two smallest, 10,000-square-foot buildings will start early next year.

“It was zoned for the storage,” said United Development’s Biff McGuire. “Look at all the houses around there — it’s a perfect spot for self-storage. “And we are going to make improvements to the office building.”

Lone Star Self Storage is a family-owned company with six facilities in Plano, Lewisville, Garland, Rowlett and Mesquite.

United Development is a 15-year-old company that’s managed more than $500 million worth of real estate investments.
