Here is a video of some teenagers from 1977 drag racing down Forest Lane between Preston and Webb Chapel Lanes. Apparently, Forest Lane was a major hang out for kids attending W.T. White and T.J. High Schools whom lived in the area.
They would drag race and hope not to get caught. In the video you actually see a cop stop them for drag racing down Forest Lane. You can also see some of the landmarks of the Westhollow area including the original Park Forest Shopping Center sign, the memory lane wall, open fields at Cromwell and Forest, the many fast food establishments were present, and more.
It’s a treat for those living in the area.
Memory Lane can be seen at around 5 Minute and 12 Minute Marks.
They can be seen turning into the Park Forest development at 12:32 where the language center is now on Cromwell and Forest Lane.
The Original (I believe) Park Forest Shopping Center Sign can be seen at 14:20.
Enjoy!
